Originally, the haka refers to a ceremonial dance or challenge in Maori culture. It has a set of moves along with clapping and stomping etc. It has become more widely known throughout the world as the All Blacks always perform a haka before each game.
Nowadays, many of the haka varieties that exist are performed as an expression of emotion and respect to those for which it is performed. You can see it not only on the rugby field, but also in other situations such as weddings, graduation ceremonies, welcome parties as well as funerals.
